Private Houston H. Long was born in 1921 in Delaware and lost his life on June 22, 1944, in Normandy during the airborne invasion.
He was a Private in Company F of the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division.
Long enlisted in the army on August 20, 1942, in Camden, New Jersey. Before that, he had completed his studies and was working in the automotive industry.
On June 22, 1944, while the men were digging their foxholes in a field, an aircraft flew over them and dropped a bomb. It exploded to his right, killing him instantly.
Pvt Long is buried in the American Cemetery of Cambridge, England.
