Thomas B Byrd is native of McKinley, New Mexico.
He was Private First Class within the D Company of the 505th PIR of the 82nd Airborne Division.
Pfc Thomas B Byrd was killed on June 15th, 1944 near Rosiers in Normandy, France.
By that time, 1st and 2nd Bn of the 505th PIR received the order to attack and to take the city of St Sauveur le Vicomte.
By approaching the hamlet of Rosiers, the D Company collided with a strong German resistance. The enemy possessed 2 artillery anti-tank of 75mm and an antiaircraft gun of 37mm. It is during these fights that Pfc Byrd was killed.
