As the 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment advanced deeper into the mountains of Leyte, communication became crucial. This is why the "Angels" of the 152nd Anti-Aircraft Battalion sent small teams to establish radio relay points. These relays could communicate with the Piper Cub pilots flying above and transmit messages to the tactical units on the relay line.

In this photo, General Robert L. Eichelberger, commander of the 8th United States Army, is seen conversing with a patrol from the 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 11th Airborne Division on February 4, 1945. The 511th PIR had just completed a jump onto Tagaytay Ridge in Luzon (on February 3) and was leading the division’s advance toward the southern part of Manila.
