Eugene R. Letourneau was born in 1921 in Massachusetts and lost his life during Operation Varsity in March 1945. He was a Private First Class in Company F of the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment.
His father, Peter V. Letourneau, was a mechanic in a garage. His mother was named Blanche Letourneau. The family had four children, and Eugene had two brothers and a sister.
Eugene Letourneau enlisted on November 2, 1942, at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. Before that, he had completed his studies and was working in the railroads.
Pfc Letourneau was awarded the Purple Heart and the French Croix de Guerre.
