501st Parachute Infantry Regiment

Carl Riemenschneider was born in May 28th, 1915 in New York. He died near Bastogne, Belgium, December 31st, 1944.

He entered to army on January 28th, 1942 in Bronx, New York. He joins the I Company, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division.
He participates to the operation Market Garden where he will make his) first combat jump.

After this operation, his division sent to Bastogne, Belgium with for mission to hold the crossroad's city against the German offensive on December 16th, 1944. Pvt. Riemenschneider was killed during the fights in St Sylvestre 44 by shrapnels touching his head, the hand and his right leg during an intense enemy bombardment.

The bombardment was so intense as in shell's shrapnel came to be added the wooden splinters of the forest.

He was 29-year-old.
