Background
This badge was invented by Captain Yarborough of the 501st Parachute Battalion
in 1941. It is worn under the parachute Wings or Gliders Wings.
The first to be invented was the 501st PIB, it was red and felt with gray edges.
During the war, the 501st PIB was incorporated into the 503rd PIR.
Before the war the army regulations manages different oval but during the war,
the army suspended the adoption of new badge. Nevertheless, this signal is
greatly increased and is also part of the official soldiers's uniform.
Moreover, this badge is still proudly carried today by the airborne units.
The other infantry regiments each passed their own combinations of colors, more
special is the tricolor of the 506th PIR.
This badge is for the most parachute regiments, there also existed for other
branch of the airborne such as artillery troops for assistance such as
