Chin K Tom was born on
July 5th, 1914 in New York.
These parents are Chinese immigrants. Before the war, Chin is a cook.
He is in the armed forces on October 1st, 1942. Having followed the basic
training in the infantry and before we assign him as simple cook, Chin goes
volunteer for the parachutists. At the age of 28, he enters the jumpschool
of Fort Benning.
At the end of the training
period, Chin K Tom is assigned to the company F of the 513th PIR of the 17th
Airborne Division.
He is sent to Europe to fight.
His first experience of the fight takes place in forests Inhabitants of the
Ardennes during "Battle of the Bulge". Chin was hurt by shrapnels of Teller
Mine which one of his team-mates crushed. His section was decimated.
Chin K Tom was restored in
time to participate in the operation Varsity. It was parachute on the other
side of the Rhine, on March 24th, 1945. Unfortunatly, he will never touch
the alive ground.
Chin K Tom will be shoots down in full sky of 8 bullets of Flak while he
still hung on his parachute.
His body was buried in the US cemetery of Margraten, in Holland,
Plot "O", Row "7", Grave "2".
