Private First Class James Brant Sheen

 

James Brant Sheen was born in Paul, Idaho.

He joined the airborne troops in November, 1942. He was a part of the 501st PIR, 101st Airborne Division.

Having trained at Toccoa in Georgia, he trained as a paratrooper at Fort Benning.

Brant (he preferred be Brant called instead of James) then trained demlition he completed in 1943. He was formed in the bridge demolition.

In January 1944, his regiment was sent to England.

On June 5th, 1944, with 17 other paratroopers, they embark aboard C-47 at Merryfield Airfield toward the Normandy.

On the morning of June 6th, the plane had hardly just pass the Channel that it was shot down by the German flak.

The plane crashed near Picauville, France, killing all the men and the crew.

A monument was erected in memory near the Bois de Limors.
