On 13 August 1942 the 334th Quartermaster Depot Company was constituted as part of the National Army and activated on 18 September 1942 at Camp Campbell, Kentucky. On 4 January 1943 a detachment of the 334th QM Depot Co was sent to Ft Benning, GA for training at the Parachute School.
The 334th QM Depot Co was assigned to the Second Army on 13 March 1943. The company departed New York on 1 May 1943 aboard the Thurston and arrived in Algeria on 2 June 1943. It was later assigned to I Armored Corps at Oran on 26 June 1943.
During the Italian Campaigns the 334th QM Depot Co was assigned as part of the 7th Army Airborne Division from 9 July 1943 until 21 July 1944. The company earned battle credits for the Sicily, Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno Campaigns. The 334th QM Depot Company also earned battle credits for Operation Dragoon, the Southern France Campaign, where the company was part of the First Airborne Task Force.
The 334th remained in France and participated in the Rhineland and Central European Campaigns. It was inactivated on 19 November 1945 at Camp Patrick Henry, Virginia.
